Coyote song
A Poem by Coyote Poetry
We need to be free to learn and dream. If we get lock in a cage. We are just waiting for death.

Beautiful Lady dressed in a black dress.
Blue eyes like a clear river.
Holding the talisman in her hands.
Against her heart.
Her red hair blowing in the Seaside breeze.
Whisper run Coyote run.
She put the talisman around my neck.
I’m being strangle by so many rules.
I can’t find my way back.
I got lost on my journey.
My lady Shaman brings me close.
We dance upon the naked beach.
She feels my disease.
She tells me.
You are black in spirit.
The Coyote spirit must run free.
The Coyotes were my friend.
Few of us are still roaming.
I yearn to find my lost comrades.
Run with the wind.
Break down the paper-thin wall of bullshit
Surrounding my life.
Be free.
Howl and yell at the moon.
When your dreams died.
We are just waiting for death to free us.
My blue eye friend.
I hold her tight.
I smell strawberry in her hair.
The cold of the California night.
Bring us closer together.
She give me long and sweet kisses.
Maneuver her body around.
Lift her dress.
Wraps her legs around me.
Her eyes look deep into my soul.
She whisper.
You are blinded by lies and storytellers.
You can’t see beyond this day.
Your hope has disperse into the wind.
Don’t wait for Death.
He will come soon enough.
We fall asleep on the beach.
The ocean music brings a peaceful sleep.
I dream.
I’m running with the Coyotes.
I’m dancing and howling at the moon.
I’m swimming in joy.
The morning light appear.
My woman of kindness.
Kisses me and tells me goodbye for a time.
She raises her hands to the sky.
Be free.
Don’t be a dog on a chain.
Brake the chain of disappointment.
Don’t be afraid of what is in front of your life.
I watch my protector, my friend and lover
drive away.
I look at the sun, the ocean.
I thank the lord of life and death for her.
I hear the Coyotes.
They are calling out my name.
Telling me to attack life-like a wild beast.
Eat flesh, taste the blood.
Allow it to penetrate the heart and soul.
Be strong.
Died for a worthwhile battle.
Not like cattle.
Being led to slaughter.
The Coyote can’t be tamed.
Us human are being led to the slaughterhouses
by wealthy and powerful men.
Escape.
Run with the wild beast.

Gorgeous, simply gorgeous.
Thank you for the comment. A old poem when I could see freedom. Seem like a million miles away today.
Freedom often changes her hair color, her clothes, her age, her skin. I think she likes to move around on us, so that we keep hunting her down, and keep freeing ourselves on the journey.
You’ll find her again, probably when you are looking for something else.
I am upset with the lovely lady dressed in black with eyes like the clear sky
she stole the prisoner from my heart, broke my spell of mystery
I was the story teller with imaginary tree..my coyote I will miss..now that you are free.
Thank you for the comment. We must not allow the wall of fear to overtake us. Lady in black can lead you to good places and show you the way to know peace.
Great imagery here JC and I like how you incorporated the reconnection with the trapped animal inside of you. Is the Coyote your totem animal? For a time I thought mine was the black leopard but that’s because I was so obsessed with the movie Cat People lol. I don’t really have one specifically these days as I cherish and feel connected to them all.
I like the was you identify with the coyote
I’m 1/2 Ojibwa. I like nature a lot. Years ago the coyotes in the desert would follow my water truck. (I was in the Army) I gave them water daily. My soldiers started to call me Sgt. Coyote. I like the title. I used it for my pen name. Thank you for reading.
