I use to be.
I use to be
A man is telling me of all his many deeds.
I smile and listen.
I don’t believe in talking about the past.
Today I’m who I’m?
What matter is what will I do today.
I use to be a drinker.
I use to be a Lover of woman.
I use to tell the world to f-off and travel my own direction.
Now those days seem like myths of someone else life.
I wonder who I’m now?
The drinker lost the desire to drink.
The Lover has found someone to hold on to.
The man who ran down streets and beaches telling the world to f-off has fated away.
Older, wiser and smarter?
I know today a man need to be kind.
Need to listen.
Fix problems, not create them.
Treat other with respect.
I use to be crazy.
Now I know.
We need someone to love and protect.

Life teaches us. Yesterday is just education. What we do today is important. Thank you for your comment.
Very Good ! Keep growing and writing …..
I am not a big fan of poems but this poem is cool. I think it´s a modern poem which fits to our time and to what many people experienced. I am concerned to that poem as I changed a lot in my life too. I think not all people learn or get wise. But there are still plenty who get there right direction even if late,… but that doesn´t matter.
wiser with time and age..a nice poem
Reblogged this on In My Mind It Makes Sense.
Awesome!
Yes, with age comes wisdom.
We need goodness for humanity
Wonderful poem, BRAVO! it’s very freeing to reach these decisions and to pass them on to others.
Beautifully written and leaves me thinking. So is the man smarter and wiser or just defeated?
Not defeated. He learn what is important. Today I have four children and a kind wife. I try to do good things. Young people need to test life. Come a time when we must hold on to something or die alone. Thank you for reading.
