In Monterey
In Monterey
A Poem by Coyote Poetry
We can try to escape. Sooner or later the memory will catch up with us.

In Monterey
I called you to tell you I was all right.
I don’t remember losing you so much here. The winter days of Michigan made me sad.
I don’t remember losing you so much here. The winter days of Michigan made me sad.
Here in Monterey I never get cold and the sun appears everyday.
I go to the ocean.
Listen to the sea lions cry.
I don’t feel so lonely.
I will stay in California.
The pain is less.
I can’t promise to forget you.
But I’m OK.
I’m safe from the hunger to hold and touch you.
The cold of Michigan winter brings me back to your memory.
The 3000 miles will protect me.
I wonder do you miss me?
The man who tried to make you laugh.
The man who tried to love you.
Here in Monterey.
The pain is less.
Someday we will talk face to face.
Maybe on a summer day.

Monterey –very fitting place for dealing with the unrequited love of this poem. Enjoying your work.
ow some place….!!!!1
Monterey is paradise. Only problem. A house cost $500,000 or more. Thank you for the comment. I was station at Fort Ord. Which is gone now.
beautiful!
Thank you for the comment.
Your poetry brings tears to my eyes. In a very good, profound way.
What is it about the coasts’ of a countries that find an ocean on their western shores’. why are they different to eastern shores? We have to travel east to get to them by sea, and west to venture to them overland, but they are all like dreams when nestled amongst their sands and water.
I lived on four corners of the USA. All the oceans are beautiful. The problem with the USA. A lot of population from Florida to New York. Little land that is not private. West coast is mainly free of ownership and people can roam with freedom still. I lived with the great lakes near, Water is peace and calm for the most of us. Thank you for the comment.
Australia is similar, most of its population live along the east coast, with the north, west, and south being a lot of open country, dotted with small populations in scattered places.
I have nominated you for ‘The Blog of the Year Award 2012′. Thank you for inspiring me and following my blog!

Thank you for reading.
Thank you for always coming by

I love how you used space between sentences to give a sense of talking, time or pondering, John. In my last pieces of work I have been experiencing with using both space and capitol letters to create a sense of emphasis and add to the atmosphere. Was this in the back of your mind as well, but in a different way maybe?
I was told I write poetry in epic form. I would be famous if I lived 2,000 years ago. I like to tell story and have conversation. Thank you for the comment.

To love from afar is painful, the images you have given leave my heart sore-but this is good. Not many poems have left me with such feeling.
A old poem. A true story. It did work. 3000 miles can allow the pain to go away. Thank you for the comment.
I have been there too, my friend. All to recently. Over
15, 000 and yes-the distance does allow for a different kind of healing.
Beautiful and melancholic. I enjoyed reading this Johh. You should enter it in this week’s dVerse Poets Pub Missing You prompt http://dversepoets.com/2012/12/01/poetics-missing-you/
Thank you for the comment.
your words tug at the head and the heart
A old poem. Distance allowed the pain to be less. Thank you for the comment.
I love this kind of poetry, just plain simplicity, yet very beautiful.
Followed!

Thank you for the comment. I like your site. You look like you have a fun life.
I do actually! I’m happy that it also seems like it. I wouldn’t like to have a blog that would make people think that “oh, that poor baby.
” Haha. Thank you so much for all the likes and the support you gave to my little blog. It’s all greatly appreciated.
Lets keep in touch!
