‘I adored you
I adored you
I loved you near and afar,
I loved your soft voice and beautiful face.
I stood near you and we held hands and shared drinks.
We traveled California one and I watched your dance
on the quiet beaches.
We found private places where you laid bare and free.
I could see a woman I beloved in silence .
But my need for you,
You never felt.
Because I didn’t show you, who I was.
All I wanted was you,
Near but far away.
Today I’m alone without you.
And you,
so far away from me.
Today my only wish,
is that I told you I adored you.

Great share of remembrance and yearning! As you so beautifully penned, the words unspoken can be the ones we regret the most??
