I was condemned

I was condemned

I was looking for the wide open road and some kind of freedom.
She sat alone on a barren road on the back road of Texas outside of Fort Hood and I saw her waiting for me.

I couldn’t look away from her long legs and beautiful face.
She told me. “You are late Johnnie, never keep a pretty lady waiting.

I looked at her hazel green eyes and I knew I was condemned forever.
I told her. I promise you the sea and some strong whiskey.
My pretty lady, you make my world so damn beautiful.

She smiled and she told me. “Sweet words and wonderful promises
will make me forgive you Johnnie.
