in the poets, the artists
nightmares
consistently you
appear
paintings
poetry
you are in anguish shaking
while they’re quietly hiding
you’re aware
the artist doesn’t want to be awaken
to sadness, they’re afraid to display
sleep laboured, deep
in the appearance of self-proclaimed gods
grinding their teeth
making a living
lips clamped shut
the poem
maybe a person
a poet
or possibly a bird
a butterfly
it flies
with dark black wings
one wing in the dark
one wing in oblivion
unlike the seeds you’ve sown
yet bloomed
but your hope was always free
even when they deliberately upon thee
sow evil…

walking on clouds
weaving through the canopies
like bats

to wither
